• myxine fish found mainly in Atlantic and Pacific oceans. 

• Hagfish, many times, descends to a depth of 300 fathoms (1 Fathoms = 6 Feet).

• myxine fish are marine, nocturnal and lie buried in the muddy bottom. 

• myxine fish remain as parasite on fishes. 

•.myxine fishattach to the surrounding gill region of host.

• myxine fish bore into host body to eat viscera and muscle. 

• Hence, .myxine fish are called as borer. Their body is soft, scaleless, worm like and length is measuring about 60 cm. 

• Mouth is anterior side and surrounded by lips.

• Buccal funnel and jaws are absent. In them, only one nostril and four sensory tentacles are found.

 • Eyes are vestigial. On many mucous / slime glands are present which opens on ventro lateral side through pores and secrete large amount of mucous.

 • myxine fish are hermaphrodite animal and produces spermatozoa first, hence they are protandrous in nature.
